Not sure what to say?

As well as being a kind and brilliant Renaissance man, Jim was one of the finest doctors I had the privilege of working with. He cared for the whole person, not just his patient´s cardiologic plumbing, though he was a master at that as well. We´ve lost a wonderful human being.

Such sad news.... I worked for Jim at the VA during the 80´s. I will always remember Jim as such a kind and wonderful man. He will be so missed.

Jim was a truly great teacher, colleague and friend. He touched so many lives, patients staff and students as a mentor,a teacher, a healer

I met Doctor Bell in 1994 when I was a first year medical student. He was my faculty advisor. He was a great teacher and mentor. He later proved to be my inspiration to become a cardiologist myself..,, A great man and mentor. He wil be missed by all of us!!!

Jim gave me my start in cardiology 26 years ago when my specialty at the time was geriatrics. The transition to cardiology was made so much easier for me because of Jim's mentorship - he taught me so much. He was patient, kind, approachable, and seemed to enjoy seeing when the light bulb came on! I can't say enough about him. We had many many lunches together with others here in the hospital, and I loved hearing about his life, and his opinions on current events. He was truly one of a...

Bonnie, I was so sorry to hear about Jim's death. He was a real institution here at the VA (and at the med school) for many years and I have patients that still ask about him. He will be missed- but, I'd like to think that he lives on in many ways- in his patients' memories, in our memories, and in the daily practice of the many generations of doctors that learned the fundamentals of cardiology from him.

Jim, A great teacher, practical physician, empathetic counselor, sensible colleague and friend. Best, Tom Taylor

This does not seem real. Bonnie, I´m so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man, husband, father, and teacher. I had the great pleasure of working with Jim at the VA for many years. He was a supportive boss as the Chief of Cardiology, a mentor for me as a new nurse practitioner, and a friend. I have many fond memories of our time together. I will always remember his kindness, intelligence, love of teaching others, and his smile.

Bonnie, I was saddened to read of Jim's passing. We shared many wonderful memories caring for patients and helping to educate residents, students and each other. His care was always compassionate and common sense. He brought joy into my life and many others and will be greatly missed. Art
