James Bender

We lived next door to Jim and Peggy (on Brook St) in Concord, Ca. He would often come home for lunch in the Hearst. One day he saw my mother (Esther Darrow) outside and wearing something pink. He told her "a good color for you Esther, I'm going to do you in pink". My mother got a good laugh about it, and would often tell friends this story. Jim had a great sense of humor, was never ill tempered. Peggy was the same, they were a perfect married couple.

Jim was a very kind man. He took care of my family when we had to arrange my sister's funeral in Concord in 1974. I well remember that same day his wife died and I was able to go visit him and pray with him. May God in His goodness have mercy on his soul

Our deepest sympathy to all the family. Jim was Teresa's 2nd cousin,
Jim's mother was Teresa's godmother.
Jim and Jack started grade school together in 1927 at Precious Blood and have been friends ever since.
