Margaret...Jan and I were sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I recall with great pleasure learning to ride horses under your tutelage, all the social fun with our group, your meeting and falling in love with Steve (and marrying him), and seeing you all again more recently at med school reunions. Jan still has a book on her bedside table you recommended I buy for her (Creme Brulee). Our thoughts are with you and your family. /Dick & Jan

Margaret...Louise and I are sad to hear of your loss. You and Steve were such special friends in medical school, and we enjoyed seeing you regularly at reunions at our home. The picture in the obit is classic Steve -- a huge smile, slightly tossled hair and a face showing great happiness with life. I wish you and your family good health and peace.

I had the pleasure of working closely with Dr. Bethea in my role as Director of Patient Services at the Arthritis Foundation of Georgia in the 1990's. He served on our Medical and Scientific Committee, including two years as its' chair. He also did numerous speaking engagements on our behalf. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him, he was a terrific volunteer and an excellent surgeon. He will be missed. My sympathies also go out to his wife Margaret and the entire Bethea family.
