Michael also leaves many, many other close relatives and friends. Michael loved to hunt and fish. He also loved the game of baseball, whether he was coaching a team himself or cheering on his dad's teams. He was an avid University of Virginia fan and attended football and basketball games almost from the day he was born. Michael was a very strong Christian and very active in his church especially in the youth and men's ministries. He did whatever was asked of him every Sunday, from singing, to working the sound board, to loading and unloading all of the equipment. Michael was a 2008 graduate of The Covenant School in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he served as a team captain of the baseball team his senior year. He returned to Covenant the following year to coach the 8th grade baseball team. Michael attended Piedmont Virginia Community College and then went to work at Southern States, where he worked for approximately two years. He then went to work for Intrastate Pest Control and was presently working for the valley office. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday August 24, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 735 Park St, Charlottesville, VA 22902, with Pastor Lindsay Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday August 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church. To honor Michael, we request that you not wear black to the funeral. We would prefer attendants to please wear University of Virginia Orange and Blue, Covenant, CHS or Albemarle High School attire. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spirit FM, All Points Christian Church, or Albemarle High School Baseball Boosters. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.hillandwood.com.

Dear family,
I only knew Michael through his wife Elaine when we worked together at the Childrens Rehab Center, but was impressed by her love for him and his sweet presence when he would bring her lunch to share. A loss such as this for a young, dedicated life like Michael's can only be understood on heaven's side of the veil. May his love, and the Love of his Maker, comfort you all with inexpressible nearness. I am keeping you all in my prayers.
