Not sure what to say?

It's been over 10 years since your passing and it seems like no time passed at all. Around this time of year, I get sad and (somewhat) sentimental. Lot's of memories. Lots of flashbacks. Lots of "could'a, should'a, woulda's." I suppose. It's sad to think of the wasted-time, preparing for the "Just in case" scenario, waiting to welcome you, home- when nothing prepared me for the after-effects of not having you around. No more phone calls. No more emails. No more, checking-in. It took years for...

HEY JIM,
OMG!!! THERE ARE JUST NO WORDS TO EXPLAIN HOW MUCH WE ALL MISS YOU. I REMEMBER THE TIMES WHEN YOU CAME HOME TO PUPUKEA...JONAH & ELIJAH JUST LOOKED FOWARD TO HAVING THEIR UNCLE JIMMY COMING HOME...THE ONE WHO HAD THE AWESOMEST TOYS & EASTER BASKETS FOR THEM. JIMMY, ALL THAT PAIN IS NOW GONE...YOU ARE NOW TOGETHER WITH MOM & DAD, GUIDING US THROUGH THE MANY PATHS ALONG W/ THE GRACE OF GOD. WE WILL MISS YOU, BUT NOT FOR LONG. OUR TIME ON EARTH IS JUST A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT. ...

Hey Cuz, Thank you for being a big braddah! Sometimes I feel like calling you on your cellphone, but no need. Now, we really are on wireless connection "The power of prayer". I know in time our hearts for missing you will heal and someday will meet again. Only the Good memories will be kept in our thoughts and in our hearts to fall back on. The many fun times we all shared and happy days at the beach will not be forgotten. I love you cuz May ke akua bless you on your new journey. A hui hou!

Jim, I remember the night you married my sister, Carolyn. You both seemed so very happy. Both of you glowed with joy and there was such peace about the two of you. I was so happy for both of you.
The next day was Thanksgiving and our family had some time to spend with you as we ate our dinner. I wanted to get to know you better and spend a little bit of time with you. It was very special to me. I am so glad I was able to meet you. It would have been fun to know you better.

Sure miss your phone calls and countless hours of talks. It’s not the same not receiving loads of voice messages from you. We shared laughs, joy and challenges together, I will never forget. Although, most of your adult life was spent on the mainland, you were without any doubt an “island boy” and never lost that love and respect for the island and your ohana. You made the best of your time during your brief stay in Hawaii and relived your youth sharing those stories with the ohana...

Hey Jimmy: Just wanted to thank you for your friendship, wisdom and leadership during the Mckinley Drill Team years. We all had a great time!

Aloha, Ken & Michele Tomita
