I had the pleasure of working with Rodney. He was caring and funny with a mischievous grin. He danced with me at my wedding and burned me with his pipe! Rodney was certainly one of a kind. My condolences to his family.

I worked with Rodney at The Observer for quite a few years. I was a young editor, and he introduced me to the ways of hot type and his composing room. I can still hear his laugh, and most of all I remember his professionalism and cheerfulness. He always wanted to do the job the best way. He was a memorable character.
