BRANSCUM, James D. "JD" Sr. - Of Burton, age 69, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, March 26, 2009 at his residence. Visitation 5PM-8PM Saturday and 1PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, where the funeral service will be held 11AM Monday, March 30, 2009, Pastor Dale Pattee officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring may make contributions to the Beulah Land Christian Center. James was born in Mountainview, Arkansas on January 5, 1940, the son of the late Ervil O. and Cloie (Chadwick) Branscum. On May 13, 1966, he married Mary Alice Holland. James was a member of Beulah Land Christian Center. His hobbies included woodworking and working on cars. James was employed with General Motors, Plant #7 where he was also a member of UAW Local #651. James retired from General Motors in 1993, after 23 years of service. He loved his family and enjoyed making people laugh. Surviving are wife, Mary Alice; 4 children, Ruth and husband Scott Hafer, Pam and husband Chris Lewis, James, Jr., and Craig; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Jake, Jared, Joshua and Chelsea; 2 sisters, Edna (Cecil) Clark and Ruth Street; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Aubrey and Ray; sisters, Beatrice Samples, Eva Branscum and Nova Hann. Your condolences may be shared with the family at swartzfuneralhomeinc.com

jim was one of the nicest guys i ever worked with. we drove forklift together and worked in the same departments from time to time, he had a great sense of humor, always smiling. my prayers go with you. dale kneff
