I first met Fred many years ago when I was working for my Dad's electrical company down at the old Stadium.

Even though he was a big shot with GE and the major leagues he always treated me (a wet-behind-the-ears kid) and the other workers great.

He and my Dad had some great adventures together - measuring the lights, going to dinner with the major league umpires and swapping stories back in the office.

I first met Fred when he visited Dallas in the early 70's to measure the Texas Rangers field (I was working for the GE Apparatus folks at the time). Fred treated me wonderfully and I'll never forget working with him to measure the field and then being able to watch the game from behind home plate the next night.

I just was with him again this year when he was measuring "the Jake". Again another memorable evening!

I'll miss him and know you will also.
