Dr. Burnside was my Algebra teacher at Peoples and what a God send he was to me in helping me understand the basics of math. May he be rewarded in his new home.

He was a great teacher. I had the privilege to have him twice. Once at Peeples and then at Provine. He will be fondly remembered.

I was struck harder than I could have imagined to hear about Dr. Burnside's death. He was a marvelous human being as well as a brilliant teacher. His heart and soul touched all of us at Provine. His legacy will be with us always.

What a great mentor and supporter of his students. He was a great help to me for over 20 years in helping me to recruit both his math and computer science majors at MC. He truly loved his students and saw it as his mission to help them succeed in life -- Billy Sims, Vice-President, Human Resources, Southern Farm Bureau Life

What a wonderful man he was! Not only was he a great math teacher, but he had such a kind and gentle nature he could really relate to kids. Many days I would just "hang out" in his classroom, because I loved being around him. He truly cared, inspired, and appreciated his students. I am blessed to have been one of his students.
