Not sure what to say?

Our family went to Burr's many, many times. It was my Aunt's favorite place and her kids worked there during high school. I'm pretty sure I used to see him at Vic's before Burr's became a restaurant. I saw Jim in the park walking his dog before Burr's closed down, and he was always the nicest, friendliest guy. He had a good smile, I remember the blue eyes and kind smile. I think he had a back surgery from being bent over making sandwiches and working in that position on some of his tasks for...

Thanks for all those great sandwiches, esp. sliced turkey on sourdough along with a chocolate soda and a scoop of peppermint ice cream were among my favorites. RIP James. Sincerely, James Koewler of East Sacramento

Thank you Jim for second chances, teaching me to listen, be kind, flirt with ol' biddies, make snarky remarks, strip and wax a floor, defrost a freezer, clean a bathroom, bake a turkey, make a proper shake, soda, parfait, sundae, blue drink, red sauce, sandwich...

Jim Burr was like a second father to me. Gave me my first job, trusted me to be a manager and put up with me for years. He is a legacy in the East Sac community and a wonderful man. His heart was pure and his love for people shined every day. I am truly grateful to him and for him teaching me hard work, to trust and to be patient. Sending you all so much love!

When my kids were at David Lubin, a high point of every semester was walking to Burr's to celebrate their good report cards. Much later, when my dad was in his 80s, we'd frequently lunch at Burr's. Jim Burr's calm, kind presence, and the neighborhood teens he employed, made this the ultimate community gathering place, where neighbors met and felt welcome and at home. My deep condolences on the loss of a wonderful man.

I remember Jim while growing up in Land Park at Vic's then my sister's and I saw him many times at Burr's. He was so friendly and caring, he will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

When I was barely 16 years old, Jim took a chance on me and many others, giving us our first real jobs. He was a workhorse! Baking turkeys early morning nearly every day, rarely sick, and never too busy to smile with the customers or help his team provide a better experience. Looking back now, he was a great mentor and influential to my career. And his shorthand system for order taking was memorable. You knew better than to mess that up! Jim was always the best part of our visit to Burr's Fountain. We have missed him over the years. Condolences to the family and the many friends that he leaves behind.

"Jim Burr" (that's what we called him), hired me at Vic's in 1979 and became my first ever manager. Forty-five years later and I am still applying the lessons he taught me. Hard work, customer service, always stay active, and always have a rag in your hand. He occupies a special place in my heart. Jim Burr you touched more lives than you'll ever know. Thank you.
