We in the Michigan Oral History Association are saddened to hear of the recent death of our good friend and past president of the MOHA. We will miss Jim very much and have valued his oral history work in Michigan on behalf of our group and know him to have been a great teacher and a fine oral historian.

In a year, perhaps a bit more, when the Flint School District is again alive and vibrant, I would hope that all of us remember that maybe, just maybe, Jim's example of quiet and firm leadership had a lot to do with improvements...he was a guy that cared for the "kids" first and foremost

Jim Campbell was my First Cousin. We have always been so proud of him: he was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and cousin. In 1956, my family traveled cross-country from Norfolk Virginia to Santa Ana California, to visit our relatives, the Campbells. The highlight of that trip was when we spent a day at a one-year-old theme park, better known as Disneyland. What a great day! To my sister and I, it was certainly one of the best days of our lives.
