Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home - Perryton Obituary

James Earl Carnes, 61, of Perryton, TX passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2023 at the Apostolic Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Perryton with Brother Jerry Little officiating. Burial will follow in Ochiltree Cemetery. Viewing/visitation will begin Wednesday (5/31/23) 3:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Thursday (6/1/23) 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Friday (6/2/23) 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.


James was born on January 6, 1962 in Perryton, TX to Warren and Mary Belle (Gibson) Carnes. He was a volunteer firefighter in Perryton for several years. He had a passion for restoring antique tractors. He was co-owner and operator of Carnes Salvage. He was a good friend to many.


James is survived by his brothers, Larry Carnes of Perryton, TX and Raymond Carnes of Mangum, OK; nephews, Jody (Tami) Carnes and Steven Carnes both of Perryton, TX; and niece, Neda Soyto of Perryton, TX.

When we were driving into each other we can have nice long talks and ask him how many things he's done about tractors and cars and he asked me how many husbands I went through which was a joke actually but we always talked whenever we saw each other no matter what we were doing we stopped and talked I will miss those talks I will miss him I will miss you James very much sleep well my friend.
