Mr. and Mrs. Carney were great friends of my parents, Tom and Kitty Wienges. I enjoyed watching Mr. Carney and my dad take up the offering at Folly Beach United Methodist Church. Both were always dressed to the "t" and true Southern gentlemen! Job well done, Mr. Carney!

To the Carney family, Elaine & I are so very sorry for your loss .Mr Jim Carney was an outstanding long time neighbor on Oak Island . I always enjoyed taking with him on his long walks and in the last few years on his front porch on my walks or bike rides .He will definitely be missed on our Island . Curtis, Greg, Christopher and the rest of Mr. Carney´s family... Edward and I are so sad to hear about Mr. Carney. Our prayers have been with you all ever since we received our first "all call" through Folly Beach Methodist´s prayer line. He will be missed so much by us all. I am sure he and your sweet Mom are arm and arm maybe even dancing a long overdue dance! Prayers are continuing as y´all navigate these weeks and months ahead... Mr. Jim was a finding fixture of the Oak Island neighborhood. In his later years when the long walks were no longer possible, he enjoyed soaking up the sun on his front porch and talking to anybody passing by. He will be missed.
