So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We first met in 1955 while in U.S. Navy flight training at Pensacola. I learned to play bridge from Jim while we were at Whiting Field near Pensacola. We both soloed there and continued to follow one another throughout flight training and on to our first assignment in Fighter Squadron Fifty Two at Nas Alameda, California. I knew Jim when he served in the Legislature. He was astute and dedicated. I remember a tale about an unintended landing he made while flying for the Navy. A good guy.

I was very sorry to hear about the untimely death of Jim. His grandmother and my grandfather Dr. Barksdale were brother and sister. Please accept my condolences. Bill Lawson
