James Howard Case

My condolences to all of Jim´s family and friends. Jim and I have known each other since Fall 1060, when I arrived as a graduate student in the U of R Math Dept. I remember John m always as bright, hard working, and mostly serious. We met at math meetings often and eventually touched base at least every January at the Joint Math Meetings. My sincere condolences to all of Jim´s family and friends. I have known Jim since his undergraduate days at the U of R. And I loved seeing him in Baltimore and everywhere mathematicians meet. His columns in SIAM News were among my favorite math articles. He surely will be missed.
