Not sure what to say?

My condolences. I followed Jim as the Syosset High School Math Chairperson in 1985.

I was saddened to read of Mr. Chenevey's passing. I was lucky to have had him as a Math teacher at Division Avenue School. He is remembered as a good, patient and kind man. Sorry for your loss.

To the Chenevey Family,
I would like to add my condolences on the passing of Jim. When I began my career in Syosset in 1965, I had the wonderful luck to be with a joyous, supportive and intellectual group in Area B.- Jim, Joe Crane, Jim McPartlin and Gus Franza. What a place! What minds! What love for education and the kids! Walt Yannett would always say that he could never be effective without his fiefdoms of chairpeople, always led by Jim, who was a dynamo of continual motion.
I also...

To the Chenevey Family,
I want to add my condolences on the passing of Jim. When I first started to teach at Syosset High, my office was in area B. What a place of joy, support and intellect. Jim, Joe Crane and Jim McPartlin inspired the young staff and helped lead the school into excellence. Walt Yannett always would say that he could not work without the fiefdoms of the chairpeople---always beginning with the leadership of Jim.
I also thank Jim for helping to found the Syosset...

I have a surprise to share with Jim's children. I believe that Joan already knows what I am about to tell you. Jim had many more children than the four you are aware of. I along with 17 others saw Jim as a father figure. The only member of the math department that may be excluded from the folks who treated him like a father was Ralph who went to war with Jim. The rest of us learned how to teach, what to teach, and how best to treat all people. Jim was a master teacher, but an even greater...

Joan and children,
I can only begin to tell you what a profound influence Jim had on me, starting a mere 46 years ago. Jim interviewed me and hired me as a brand new teacher. He was the ABSOLUTE BEST CHAIRMAN any teacher could have had!!! He was so ahead of his time, so very wise. I could go on and on for pages but I will suffice it to say Jim was instrumental in my having the best job, the best career any person could wish for. You have my sincerest condolences. With love and...

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a dear loved one is never easy. May you find comfort in the words written at Jeremiah 29:11.

I was lucky enough to spend three years at Syosset teaching Math and having Lunch with the Terrible Trio, Bob Guadino, Bob Eldi, and the rest of the crew. He took me under his wing as a base Neophyte and taught me the ropes. Being interviewed for the teaching job by Jim- I admitted I had never taken an education course in my life- he rifled back " That's the best thing I like about you!"
God Bless You Jim!

Jim Chenevey was one of a kind. I remember him as a standout but also as a member of the terrible trio of Jim, Joe Crane and Jim McPartlin. They are all gone now and we are poorer for that.
Keep hitting them straight Jim.
