Jim was my father-in-law for the last 19 years. I knew him as a gentle, humble and private human being, who was always willing to share his vast knowledge on many subjects especially the Civil War and sailing. When Jim wold recount a story he would never put himself as the focus of the it but would put more emphasis on the people that were also involved in the story.
