James E. “Patch” Clutter, Sr., 76, of Route 2, Clarksburg passed away, Friday, October 29, 2004 at Ruby Memorial Hospital following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born June 8, 1928 at Clarksburg, the son of the late Joseph Clutter and Beulah Merrifield Clutter. His wife, Ila Garrett Brady Clutter whom he married September 1, 1962, survives him.

In addition to his wife he is survived by six sons; James E. Clutter, Jr. and wife Sally of Vermilion, Oh., Joe Clutter and wife Dena of Clarksburg, James H. “Jamie” Clutter of Clarksburg, Randy Brady and wife Jan of Winchester, KY., Roger Brady and wife Nancy of Fairmont, and Robin Brady and Cindy Ware of Clarksburg; 13 grandchildren; Melissa Allen, Michelle Brahling, Mark Clutter, Cam Clutter, Travis Clutter, April Brady, Christine Brady, Ben Brady, Amy Covey, Crystal Brady, Robert Brady, Jason Brady and Zack Ware; 10 great grandchildren; Jared Allen, Tabitha Brahling, Jasmine Clutter, Bryce Nicole Butler, Haley Corey, Brianna Corey, Jacob Corey, Skylar Brady, Brooklin Dottellis and Rebecca Brady; two sisters; Polly Poling of Bridgeport and Rose Ann Baker of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by one son; Ronald L. Brady; one brother; Joe Clutter and three sisters; Margaret Campbell, Betty Caldwell and Iva Mae Moats.

Mr. Clutter was a retired foreman with the WV Department of Highways, was a well-known stock racecar driver in the area and enjoyed participating in demolition derbies. He was Methodist by faith.

Family and friends will be received at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Dr./Rt 98, Clarksburg from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2004 where services will be held Monday, November 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Kathryn Ambler officiating. Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Garden.
