Not sure what to say?

Having been a military wife and relocated many times over the years. I am shocked to find out that he passed and ashamed that it took so much time for me to try to look for him. He was the best of souls and kindest of friends.

I am writing this 12/21/2010. I found out by chance last night. I went through my address book and wanted to send him an xmas card. I also called his cell number that I had and left a message on it for him to call me back! Then I did a reverse address look up and called that house. I spoke to a gentleman and it was then, last night, 12/20/2010 that I was told Jim passed away. I was so sad and not prepared to hear of the news, especially to find out that it's been 2 years since he...

Janice, Victoria, and Dan said it best. Jim remains a warmly remembered friend, blessed with a wild wit and generous spirit that touched so many lives. Here's to you, Jim!

I, like all my classmates, remember Jim Colby fondly. Our lives were better for having you in them, Jim. Thanks for your friendship and talents.

I am writing this in 2010, nearly two years after Jim's death. For six years (jr. high and high school) my locker was next to Jim's. We developed a deep friendship over those years and he even drew me as a cartoon character, "Clobber Clomes." I don't know if anyone else ever saw those cartoon drawings, but for myself, I will remember them forever!

About the time Jim moved to Iowa, our paths took different directions and I lost touch with him. Yet, his warmth, wit and love of art...

I've known Jim off and on for the last 30 years. He was a fun guy who was always willing to lend a hand or give sage advice when needed. I will miss his sense of humor and the way he and Margolis were always ribbing each other. We had some fun together over the years and I'll think of him when we have musical jams.

Jim was my oldest friend. We knew each other for 45 years. In junior high and high school we were best friends, and we remained very close through the years. Jim was a wonderful artist, a true master of the pencil, brush, and pen. He was filled with music, and his sense of humor was legendary. When he entered a room, you knew that he was there. I'm sure that I speak for his many great friends when I write, "We love you, we miss you, and we will always remember you."

The Fraternal Order of Eagles wish to express our sorrow at the death of James Colby. He was dear to us and we loved him as a Brother. May He now realize the love of a Heavenly Father; We commit him to Thy tender care. We shall meet again with James in the Grand Aerie Beyond; where we all become perfect in the Love of an infinite God.
Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 148

I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the death of my good and longtime friend, Jim Colby. I met Jimmy in 1960, when he and I were in the first grade of Hebrew School (we were in the third grade of public school). I lived in Springfield, Jimmy lived in Longmeadow. In 1961, my family and I moved to Longmeadow, on Wilkin Drive, a few hundred yards from Jimmy's home on Grassy Gutter Road. For the next few years, Jimmy, along with Peter Greenberg (of Wilkin Drive) were my two best...
