Not sure what to say?

What an honor to have known, learned from and been guided by such a great person. 35+ years after having him as a world history teacher at Sterling High School, still feeling the vitality of his influence. James Combs. Dude is a legend.

Today I am reminded of the rich blessing of knowing and being coached by Mr Combs. I continue to live the character lessons he exemplified in my daily life. Lessons that I share anytime that I can. I am grateful for having Mr Combs in my life - at a time when I needed him most! Thank You Lord

Just found the website of Jim's story - obit. 1/31/11 - Sorry to hear of his death.
I think I am related somehow to this fellow. My dad's name was James Kennedy Combs he died in 1962. He was born in Pedricktown, NJ. The names Curtis, Louis, Russell sound familiar not sure if these names were my dad's brothers names or a cousin. My dad's sisters names were Isabel, Gertrude, Anna and Eva. I have a brother whose name is James Kennedy Combs and he was born two years before dad died. He is 51...

What a loss. Coach Combs was a inspirational teacher, coach, and family man. I'm sure all who were blessed to have known him have a memory or two to share. He impacted so many live over the years and will be missed by freinds and family alike. I send my sympathies to all of his family.

Having had the opportunity of playing football in college (Penn State) and the Buffalo Bills, I am very thankful for the many excellent qualities Jim Combs demanded from his football players. He was a rare coach who made the game fun yet demanding. He was a true disciplinarian with a soft touch and a good heart. His football expertise at that time put him light years in front of his competitors. We will miss you Coach!
