James Elvin Conkin

A great friend and mentor. He provided me with employment in the lab at University of Louisville. So grateful!

We never met but he was a staunch supporter of my geological investigations. He was the best field geologist I ever knew. Will miss him greatly.

Not only a great professor, but a good friend and brother Marine. May he be welcome for the final muster to guard Heaven's gate. Semper Fi, Jim. Thank you for all you taught me. May God bless and comfort Barbara and the family.

My heart felt sympathy to the family of Dr. James E. Conkin. He was more than my geology professor; he was a mentor and friend. I enjoyed working with him during my years at U of L. He had me working on the fossil "Podolithus." I will never forget him.

I worked in the UofL Geology Department Office from 1984 to 1992. I remember Prof. Conkin fondly and extend my condolences to his wife and family.
