James A. Contino, 50, known as Guido to family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 8, 2012 after several health issues.

Guido worked as a banquet chef for over 20 years in the Des Moines area. Karaoke, music, the guitar, sketching, fishing, trivia and Shirley Temple movies all brought him great joy. He loved to spend time with family and friends and made every party better with his good humor, warm smile and music. Guido was also an avid fan of the Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings and the NY Yankees.

Guido is survived by his wife, Sande, a son Alex (Danae) of Long Island, NE, a daughter Cassie (Paul) Greene of Evansdale, IA, and a new granddaughter, Sophia Contino.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the home of Guido and Sande over the coming days. Messages of condolences may be left for the family at www.MerleHayFuneralHome.com.
