James "J.R." Crockett, 70, a retired welder/mechanic with TXU Electic Co., died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at his home.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Golden Gate Church of God in Christ, 4801 Wilbarger St., Fort Worth. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

James "J.R." Crockett was born April 11, 1932, in Muldoon. He was a Fort Worth resident since 1943. After 27 years service at TXU Electric, he retired in 1987. He married Loraine Crockett, who preceded him in death. On June 30, 1997, he united in marriage with Blanche Artis, who remained his loving wife until his death.

J.R. was a loving and friendly man, who loved fishing, preparing delicious barbecue, outdoor activities and sports.

Survivors: Wife, Blanche Artis Crockett; sons, Jerry Lynn Crockett (Allison) and Kenneth House; daughters, Jacquelyn Burns (Eddie) and Loretta Green; stepsons, Ralph Artis (Nina), Anthony Artis and Terry Artis; stepdaughter, Jacquelyn Sims (Anthony); brothers, Frank Crockett Sr., Fred Crockett (Janice) and John Crockett; sisters, Leola Dansby and Myrtle Mae Walker; grandchildren, Christopher, Talia, Kristian, Jasmine, Jerry Jr., Jeremy, Jaylynne, Kenneth Jr., Demarcus, Mahlia, Denzell, Ladrarick, Arron, Erica, Bryant, Ryan, Angela, Belva, Cory, Eddie Jr., Julius, Treneka; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
