I was a student in Dr. Crook´s computer science class my freshman year at Winthrop. He made class a joy even though it went completely over my head. I worked hard to understand but never quite got the basics of Fortran. In spite of my lack of understanding he recognized my sincere effort and was always willing to help or point me toward a student in the lab who could guide me. He truly made me realize that teaching is about caring.

I was one of his older students probably taking classes like in 1978. He was a tough prof but very fair and but his classes were hard work. It sounds bad..but I aced his classes. But he was one of my favorite profs and I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Dan Deas / Rock Hill

Dr. Crook was a joy and delight. He always had a laugh to share to brighten your day. I worked with him during the mid 80´s, I think, at Winthrop. Family and friends, keep him close by the memories you shared.
