James V. D’Amore Jr., 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Jim was born in Newark and moved to Edison when he was young. He grew up living next door to his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends and later moved to Clarksburg in 1985 with his family.
Jim is survived by his loving sister, Diane D’Amore Wescott, her husband, Arthur C. Wescott Sr., their son, Aj, his wife, Nikki, and their son David Kent. Jim also leaves behind his Godmother, Margaret (D’Amore) Dafgek, and many loving cousins. He was fondly referred to as “Cuz”by many and was treated as an extension of many families and friends.
Jim was a diesel mechanic and worked alongside his brother-in-law, Art for many years before following his dad’s footsteps to be a truck driver. He started by working for many local companies before he was able to buy his own tractor and trailer and start his own company, JVD Transportation. There was nothing he loved more, except for being with his family, than being on the road and traveling the country.
When his health became and issue, Jim sold his truck and started a new venture by working for his cousin, Jim D’Amore at JDM Engineering. (Since there were a total of five James D’Amore’s, each one named after the other, it always became a funny family topic of conversation). While working for JDM Engineering, he once again was able to find happiness out on the road, doing what he loved.
Jim loved the outdoors, fishing with his dad and camping with the family. His favorite place to visit was Lake Placid in the Adirondacks, which he enjoyed in all seasons but especially in the Fall for the Flaming Leaves Festival and Octoberfest. Second to Lake Placid was vacationing in Down East Maine and Blue Hill where he spent many yearly vacations with family on Toddy Pond.
Jim was a very special person and loved by anyone who knew him. His life was filled with many challenges and he overcame so many of them. He was a true warrior and he fought may battles with his health.
He will be remembered by his smile, great sense of humor and the ability to make everyone laugh. Jim loved being around others, especially family and enjoyed spending holidays, family reunions, and Beerfest’s with his famous limoncello. Jim had the biggest heart and was generous with his love and kindness. He was truly a good person, loving son, brother, uncle, and great uncle and will always live on in the memories of those that loved him. Rest easy Jim.
A visitation will be held from 11-1:30 on Tuesday, September 22nd at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St, Allentown. Interment will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to the Acoustic Neuroma Association at https://www.anausa.org/forms/ana-donation

As I put out birdseed for our outdoor friends, the squirrels are always near, waiting for their share. When I see the squirrels, I can't help but think of Jimmy and his love for everything living. He loved to watch them on his deck, connecting on a level that others might not understand. They became a part of his everyday life and gave him great joy. Jimmy had a zest for life and lived his with such positivity. He was one of the bravest people I was blessed to know. He will be remembered...

I will always remember my first time up on water skis behind Jimmy’s boat. When I went down I had trouble with walking for 2 days after my adventure. Jim and the rest of the boys got a huge laugh over my discomfort. My wonderful buddies!

I never thought it was a coincidence that on the day of my brother David’s funeral back in September 1970, you, Diane and your family entered our lives. The day we said goodbye to one brother we gained another.
The most important lesson you taught me was to face adversity head on and never give up. You had such courage! And in spite of any challenge facing you, you kept an incredible sense of humor and made everyone laugh. In my life I’ve never met anyone loved by more people than...

You always knew I was into cars and racing as far back as I can remember. To this day I remember the story about when you delivered a Saleen S7 to a father who bought it, sight unseen, just so he could drive his daughter to school with it. I loved how we were always able to talk about cars, new and old, to the point where you began giving me advice on my Camaro when I had it. I love you, Uncle Jimmy, and I'm grateful that God helped you find peace. We are all blessed to know that He chose you...

Cuz, I loved our Facebook talks, we could do that for hours. You loved my family and we loved you right back. You have the biggest heart of any guy I know. Thank you for the limoncello and the cinnamon booze. It was always amazing. Rest easy darlin', see you on the other side. Love always, Gamino family.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Jim’s passing. My deepest condolences to you Diane and your family. Although this is a difficult time, my hope is you will cherish all the great memories of your brother. I will always treasure the fun times we had in Maine, particularly the times in his boat on the lake. Rest In Peace Jim.

Cuz Bret will always remain in the hearts of his entire family and all the friends he met along the way. I remember many family times at your home over holidays. Always getting a picture of the 5 Jim D'Amore's together whenever possible. You could tell the pride and love Cuz felt for his family and they all knew they could count on him for anything. Hold on tightly to your memories as they will help you get through this horrific pain, it will never go away, but it will ease in time. All...
