Not sure what to say?

Jim was "my" weatherman many, many years ago. His passing was a personal low for me. Though he had retired years before. His life and service to San Antonio and surrounding areas were critical to viewers, farmers, ranchers, and those that enjoyed his weather forecasts. I mean who but Jim could singlehandedly make Muleshoe, Texas a well known town. He certainly would be a hero in Muleshoe to this day. May God bless and keep you and yours Jim!

Mr. Dawson was the one who got me interested in watching the weather, waaaaay back in the 1960's, while I was still in Elementary School. His cartoons at the end of his weathercast peaked my interest, and I would bug my dad to let me watch the news every afternoon. I am 65 years old now, and though Mr. Dawson is no longer with us, his weather segments have not left my memory after all these years. Thank you, Mr. Dawson!

Ah but on lazy heat-bound summer days my sister and I would ride the bus downtown to the Menger Hotel, where more times than not, out by the pool, we'd find Mr. Dawson and Dan Cook sittin' round enjoying refreshments. Us monkeys were always star-struck in their presence.

Mr. Dawson, to me, personified the word "gentleman." It's said that culture is the only thing you can't sell or lose. And he always showed us what it meant.

I did not know Jim or his family at all, but always watched the newscast, sports, and weather on his channel all through the 70's... I just wanted to say that it was & is so obviously apparent that he was just such a down-home, kind and naturally good person to the core.. I am glad that he was fortunate enough to be blessed with a fine Texas bride/wife for all of 67 years..The entire world would be a much friendlier place were there more Jim Dawson's around..................

I bought 2 new Buicks from Jim while he was at San Antonio Buick. A 1956 and a 1959 model. I enjoyed Jims good personality.

My father was a ww II marine and when he moved to S.A. to work for Army Map Service he got his pink Buick from Mr Dawson, and we would be in front of the tv every night for weather and his cartoons ,my dad told me Mr Dawson was the nicest man you will ever meet.

I worked with Jim for about 8 years. What good memories I have of our times together. He life left a positive impact of those of us fortunate enough to have known him. He came to work every day bouncing through the door smiling. I never saw him in a bad mood, although I'm sure he had them. He was my friend and one I could tell all my secrets without fear everyone knowing them. And talented? The man could do anything. From drawing to welding cars together and oh yeah, a heck of a...

When I was a kid the best part of the news (we only had 1 TV) was getting to see his cartoons. I'd always laugh. As I got older I realized his double entendre' humor and wished I could see all those cartoons I "missed". My prayers are with the family.

Jim Dawson changed my life. As a young boy in New Braunfels who loved weather, I was transfixed by Jim watching him on WOAI-TV. His authority on-air and calming but firm words during severe weather solidified my desire to become a meteorologist. While on active duty for 12 years in the Air Force, I became a weekend weathercaster at KSAT in the early 80s and had the honor of working with Jim. He later became my first TV agent when I left the military and predicted a bright future for me. Since...
