Not sure what to say?

I worked at Children's Hospital during the days Dr. Dearth first took over the position of CEO. Just returned to Birmingham and learned of his untimely death. His quiet composure displayed in his leadership and that smile in his eyes inspired you to always do your best for him and for the children. A wonderful man who's time was much too short. Will always remember him in that Jaguar of his he rode off in every day home to his family. Your Children will forever miss you !

I think about Dr. Dearth everytime I drive by The Children's Hosptial what a impacte that He made is so many lives .Not only patients but the people that knew him and work for and witth Him.!!! Often I wonder what he would think about this new beautiful Children's Hospital now? I worked in the Adm.for a while out at the front desk , he waas so good to me very nice didn't treat me any diffrernt than he did others that maybe worked closer to Him. What a gift gave all that knew Him , and now...

Dr. Dearth was my daughter's onconlogist in the late 80's and 90's. He was a wonderful doctor to my daughter and so compassionate. Our family extends prayers for your family. I was in Birmingham last Wed. and asked about him. I was told he had retired and was so happy he was finally able to spend quality time with his family. Again our hearfelt sympathy goes out to the family of a wonderful man. Glenda Armstrong, Millry, Al

Your family has been in my thoughts so much the past few weeks...My son Tony was one of Dr. Dearth's last patients to take on around the time he became the CEO at TCHA...March 19, 1991. I will never forget that night when he walked into our room to explain the treatment that my 12 month old son would need to undergo to treat his neuroblastoma. As Tony grew, Children's Hospital became our home away from home. Dr. Dearth was affectionately called Doker Dearf (because Tony couldn't say "th")...

I competed with Jim in high school track; both Monroe HS and Middleton HS were in the Badger Conference. He was an artist in the shotput and discus. To watch a 'lefty' doing something so well that you could do but passingly was a privilege. God's Speed, Jim.

And now, all in my own countree,
I stood on the firm land.
The Hermit stepped forth from the boat,
And scarcely he could stand.
'O shrieve me, shrieve me, holy man !'
The Hermit crossed his brow.
'Say quick,' quoth he, 'I bid thee say,
What manner of man art thou ?'
Forthwith this frame of mine was wrenched
With a woeful agony,
Which forced me to begin my tale;
And then it left me free.
Since then, at an uncertain hour,
That...

I had the privilege of playing football with Jim at Duke. He was a strong gentleman. A great man. My best to his loved ones.
