James P. DeCesare, 82, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, in Leominster Hospital, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Jean M. (Morrison) DeCesare; four sons: Philip J. DeCesare, Robert J. DeCesare, Mark S. DeCesare, and Douglas A. DeCesare; one daughter, Mary Kathryn Flaherty; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Beck.

Born and raised in Clinton, son of the late Angelo and Lillian (Scanlon) DeCesare, he was a graduate of the Clinton School System, and received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Fitchburg State University.

For 35 years before retirement, he served the Town of Clinton as a Police Officer. In addition, he served as the Inspector of Weights and Measures for many years.

At Jim’s request, funeral services and burial are private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton High School Athletic Department, 200 West Boylston St., Clinton, MA 01510, or the Clinton Police Relief Association, c/o Clinton Police Department, 176 Chestnut St., Clinton, MA 01510. McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, is directing arrangements.
