Not sure what to say?

As we hit the year anniversary of Jim's passing, there hasn't been a single Thursday where Dek's name hasn't come up in conversation from one or multiple members of his "walking buddies". He is sorely missed but brings a smile to the faces of friends who first met freshman year 1964. Walk on, Dek -Walk on!

Jim and I were scuba buddies. We made a few scuba dives in Monterey Ca. A gtreat Wildcat who I miss. RIP

Loraine. Jim was one of the finest people I have ever known. I know the pain of his passing probably seems unbearable. You two had a relationship others could only admire. You found your soul mate at a very young age and you two made it work. I have never met anyone who had a bad word to say about Jim. The way he handled himself after his accident was an inspiration to those who knew him. My time hanging around the Gresh family at 45 and Santiago are some of the best memories of my life,...

To Lorraine and the entire Dekker and Gresh family. One could live a long time and never find a more respected, admired, thoughtful human being then Jimmy. Sometimes when people die you have to make up some nice things today. Though I haven´t seen Jimmy in some time, you didn´t have too make up any the great things Jim was .May God rest his soul as their is no doubt Jim now resides in heaven

It's been 50 years Lorraine. My deepest condolences. Rest in Peace Jim. Your favorite Jimmy Dean impressionist.

A life so well lived with family, & on a Mission to educate & enlighten young people was a joyous way to live. I am the youngest sister of both Carolyn Squeri & Dr. Frank Charlton, both friends of Jim's since high school. I always loved it when Carolyn & Frank's friends stopped by or visited to shoot pool & listen to music downstairs. Being 7 years younger, what I clearly recall is the fun, high energy company, & none of this was a special occasion; this was usual. This class of SI 1968 was...

Condolences to Lorraine and entire Dekker family. Years ago, my brother Glen and I attended a ceremony at SI honoring Jim's coaching the varsity baseball team for 16 yrs. Jim proceeded to introduce all of us by name in attendence. He also mentioned some who had intended to be there but couldn't make it. Blessed to have been a HN classmate of Jim's for 9 yrs. and an SI class of '68 classmate for 4 yrs. Jim, 100% heart, 100% class.

Dear Dekker Family, This is such a tremendous loss for so many. Dek was that special. Dek and I were Drucker Dribblers at SI, and he was a tremendous teammate. Athletically gifted, but the fiercest of competitors, with the ability to always flash that smile. I will continue to treasure my memories of Jim, the man enhanced my life. John Cercos '67.

Jim´s greatness was reflected in his intelligence; his passion; his decency and his commitment to family and friends. I lived next door to I´m at SCU and my time there was greatly enhanced by our friendship. When it came time for our boys to attend high school, he was almost successful in recruiting them to SI. When they learned of his passing, they were genuinely saddened. Jim lived a consequential life and we are all better for having known him. Judge Robert D, (Oz) Mc Guiness
