Not sure what to say?

Although much too brief, I am very thankful to have had Jim in my life.
He allowed me the honor and privilege of teaching at his Music Word Store for many years.
His influence on me, as well as thousands of others, still carries on in a most positive way.
God bless Jim and all the Detchman family for all the many wonderful memories...

Everyone is missing this wonderful man who brought so much music and kindness to our community. It's hard to believe that I won't have the opportunity to get to see him at Music World anymore - it just won't be the same without his kind smile. Love and support to his wonderful family and everybody at Music World for carrying on his legacy.

fellow Merkeler, fellow blogger

took his rugged journey in his own unique way, lightly, bearing all the weight himself, giving us the model of one very giving way to do it. an artist at life.

Thank you Jim for blessing so many people's lives. Sad to have you parted from us. I am sure you are making music in heaven.

I am so sorry for your loss - I have always appreciated Jim's kind words and gracious smile whenever I talked with him. His generous help and advice for our music departments at the Adventist schools in Meadow Glade have left an impact on many students. I will miss his gentle spirit.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Mr. D you will be missed. I so appreciated your dedication and patience with me. I had very little musical talent but you always pushed me to do my best. Thank you for all the lives you impacted!

A great teacher and a great man. Mr. D, you will be missed.

Mr Detchman was a fabulous band teacher and choir teacher. He's the reason that I started singing in a choir.
He will be fondly remembered by my family and me.
