Not sure what to say?

To all Dettling family, what a wonderful human being. Kind, gentle, intelligent, loving Husband, Father, could fix anything. Could infinitely give positives not finding any negative aspect that I ever knew of. What a wonderful life. My sincerest condolences to all of you. Sincerely Phil and Mary Dascola

It was a privilege to have known Jim. He was a neighbor and friend of our mother (Dottie ) when she lived at Brookhaven Manor. He was a kind man , a true gentleman with a positive and optimistic attitude towards life. He loved his cat "Herbie " but shared him with the other residents at Brookhaven along with an endless supply of Werther's caramels . He was just a great guy.

So sorry to hear of Jim Sr's passing. We always enjoyed having Jim to our house for Thanksgiving celebrations and the many stories he told of growing up in Ann Arbor. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

RIP Jim. The Frauhammer family.

I was so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I don't remember him very well but I remember that my parents, Bud and Lelah Dettling, were very fond of him. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care,
Mary Ann Dettling Fielder

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a lovely man with his infectious smile and always so happy. Many nice memories of Jim, Cate and their children at family reunions. Our prayers are with you and all who loved your dad.

My sincere condolences to Jim's "kids" and extended family

I met Jim in October 2015 when I moved to Brookhaven to be with my dad and my apartment was directly across from Jim and his beloved cat Herbie - as we'd chat in our doorways, Herbie would sneak into my apartment to perform one of his many inspections - he'd sniff anything and everything that was of interest, and then once satisfied, would amble back home

Jim was a wonderful, upbeat man beloved by all here at Brookhaven...
