Not sure what to say?

James was, for years, the chief clerk of the Rock River Valley Division-NMRA and an ardent promoter of our community model railroad events at Katie’s Cup, the Nicholas Conservatory and the Discovery Center to name a few. James loved kids. It was a delight to see him talking with children whenever he exhibited his Lionel trains. He was also a Master Gardener doing his best to better his west side neighborhood where he lived. Always cheerful and upbeat, there is another smile in heaven today.

So very sorry to hear of Jim's passing! He was a truly passionate and compassionate man.

Rest good friend!

So wonderful to reconnect with James at his childhood home in Cherry Valley and also as a co-worker. He was kind and so very community minded. He will be missed.

Number two James will truly be Missed. A man who had a heart for his community and loved people’s❤❤❤

James was a dear co-worker and friend. A wonderful giving man who loved and cred for everyone around him. I am certain the angels in heaven are rejoicing at his homecoming.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

Praying for you all. I have this picture of him with the kids in Sonlight. He loved those kids and the loved him too. He was a faithful servant!

Hearing of James passing hit me a lot harder than I expected—the biggest reason being, none of us had expected him to pass on so suddenly. He was my first art teacher, and someone who I will always look up to, and his nurturing, pragmatic, yet sensitive presence will be dearly missed.

From the City Gardens of Rockford, to the Westgate Coalition, to Project 1013 to help lend a hand in making the city a better place to live, the man had either started or helped to grow countless...

He was a great coworker and friend. Always was in a good mood at work. He just lifted your day with his humor and laugh. I lost a good friend. We teased each other during football season because he was an avid Bears fan and I being a Packers fan. How ironic he passed away on a Bears/Packers game day
I love you James enjoy heaven.
