Not sure what to say?

Jimmy and I met at Columbia Theological Seminary and became life-long friends, even though he lived in Alabama and my wife Rhonda and I in Illinois. When we did not receive a Christmas card from him this year, I looked him up only to find that he had passed away. Of course, with the Lord whom he served so faithfully, he is very much at home. And I wouldn't want to call him back, even though Rhonda and I will miss knowing that he is no longer in Springville, AL.

I have just found out today that Jimmy went home in March. We met in 1948 when my family moved to Havana from Tampa. He and my brother were in the 8th grade together and remained friends all these years. I was in the fourth grade and was fascinated that the school was first thru 12th. We lived there one year, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. We remained friends until the end. We weren't able to visit the last few years as neither of us could drive distances. My first...

I was introduced to Mr. Dolan in the 5th grade. He was my math teacher. He would write two long division problems on the blackboard and say," you will either make a 100%, 50%, or a ZERO. What!?? no partial credit?? He, for sure, lived up to his reputation in the classroom. He was also my neighbor. Because he was my neighbor, I was able to see the softer side of him. The side where he was always happy and smiling. He was always giving kind words and praying with people. I...

Brother Jimmy was our pastor from 1985-1993. He was a great pastor and friend. We learned from him the value of parting with a word of prayer. And the value of closing your kitchen cupboard doors whenever he visited! He was at the hospital before we arrived for surgery. Was the best eulogist! We were hoping he would outlive us and do our funeral. We loved visiting him on the hill. We will miss him. So glad he took up our challenge of reading through the Bible from cover to cover. Praying for...

Our sympathy to Jim's family, I have lost one of my oldest childhood friends, with so many great memories of a friend, neighbor, playmate, classmate. I cherish our later year talks and prayers together, he will be sorely missed as a phone contact for prayers for family, friends and associates. RIP O'GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT. For all the kids growing up in the pigtail alley neighborhood. Roger and Patricia Glover

Our Brother in Christ

James Dolan was my 5th grade teacher and in all the years that passed after that he never failed to remember me nor I him. We would greet each other at various places around our hometown of Springville. He was always such a warm & k8nd man, a lover and advocate for animals as well. I will never forget running into him at Walmart when my precious dog was fighting for his life and Brother Dolan taking the time to pray with me right then and there in the middle of the store. That was just the...

The Johnson and Franklin Families of Alabama and Drenna Marino (Johnson) in NJ offer our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Dolan's family. He was very kind to our family especially our sister Sherri. A kind, wonderful man and he will never be forgotten.
