I didn't know that this was here....Pappy I sure do miss you. I looked up to you so very much so. You and grandmother were truly and will remain always as my role models. To have you as my grandfather was such an honor. I hope to always make you proud. Love you dearly and I miss you very much.

Just today, June 25, 2023, I learned that Pappy is a Silent Key. He was a great friend from years ago when he lived in Columbia SC. He and I served in the SC ANG on late 1950's in same unit of the 240th AACS. Lost track of Jim when he left Columbia, but later found him in Young Harris. Jim's name will be added to the list of military personnel who served in the SCANG, if not already there.

Uncle Jimmy, I wish I got to know you. I heard much about from my mom Anne. I am Donald Doughty daughter Missy. Rest in Peace my uncle. I pray for all my distant relatives for love and support during this time.

RIP "Pappy" enjoyed hearing him check in to the 3975 Georgia Single Side Band Net.
Always had a happy word for everyone.
Peter Rabbit Ears will be missed.

Sharon, Lee and Marcy, So sorry we couldn´t be with you to say farewell to Pappy. I have so many memories of our families together on camping trips back in the day. In more recent years we had wonderful times with you all on the pontoon boat on Lake Chatuge and dinners at the Cookie Jar in Blairsville. Here´s a picture of our last visit with Pappy, Ray and Emma. Love to all,

I am a fellow ham operator that has always enjoyed hearing Pappy check in to the GA Single Sideband net. He was always cheerful and upbeat. I had the opportunity to meet and talk to Pappy on a couple of occasions at the Dalton Hamfest. I as well as others will miss our true friend and fellow ham Pappy K5PRE. 73 and God Speed, Frank KN4QJ

All his fellow ham friends will miss Pappy on the radio especially on the nightly 75 meter nets as he was a regular.I called K5PRE,Peter Rabbit Ears, tonight for the last time on the G10 net.He was a character and the nets won't be the same without him.Our thoughts and prayers to all the family,Louis Hernandez,K4IIE Augusta

I never met Pappy in person, but often heard his cheerful voice on the radio when checking into the Georgia Single Sideband Net which radio amateurs use to relay news and messages. RIP. de AI4QT
