Not sure what to say?

Dear Mrs. Douglas and Family,
I was so sorry to learn of the death of Dr. Douglas. I cannot help but smile as I remember his biology classroom. We actually had a good time learning. After working with youngsters for 35 years I now know that was his teaching magic at work. He was equally adept in administration, as he guided students toward graduation. I know that you will miss this remarkable man. May God comfort each of you.
Sincerely,
June Allen Christian, AHS '68

My sympathies go to the Douglas family for their loss. Coach Douglas was the principal at Auburn High School when I took my first tentative steps as a teacher/coach fresh out of college in 1969. He mentored me and was a great help in establishing the standards of what a teacher should be. He also was a compassionate person who understood that I was a beginner in the field of education.

I enjoyed our friendship through softball and other community activities. He was a great friend,...

I lived in Mrs. Ward's house on Ross Street in Auburn with Jim in 1961 when I was a freshman and he was in graduate school. There were 9 of us freshmen boys living there that year with the "old man" Jim Douglas. We played a lot of whiffle ball and touch football in the street and just had a grand time. Jim was working on a genetics project which...

Coach Douglas was my baseball coach in 1966 and 1967 at AHS -- I am very sorry to hear of his passing. He was an excellent teacher of sports but also of life. I often recall the summer of 1967 when you "allowed" Coach to play on our summer industrial league team -- You told me to not let Coach get hurt. Sure enough, he played 2B and was involved in a collision resulting in his glasses breaking and a huge cut on his face -- it was not easy seeing you at the door when we...

Dr. Douglas was wonderful to work with! The year I was transition coordinator, he was really great to me and we had a lot of fun. He was a real practical joker! I will miss him dearly. You're in my prayers Janise.

Dear Janis & Family,
You all are in our prayers. Jim has made a profound impact on the lives of many. I remember back during our "Word of Life" days when he was leading praise and worship and John and I were newcomers, you both opened your hearts and made us feel so much at home. Thank you!

May the Peace of God sustain you during this difficult time.

Mr. Douglas was a great encouragement to me.

God Bless You.

Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find peace in this time of sorrow.
