I was greatly saddened to learn of Jim.s death. Since his passing, I have learned of his many wonderful accomplishments. He was not only a champion of the American Chestnut tree but many other nut trees. He was a past president of the Kentucky Nut growers. He was also a avid birdwatcher and loved nature. He was a published writer of at least one book and a great student of many subjects He was above all, to me, a true and abiding friend to my father, Edward P. Canty of Frankfort , and I...

My uncle Jim was one of the kindest, most considerate and interesting people I every met. I admired him as did most people who had the fortune to meet him. He was a genuine role model. I will miss him dearly. I know he is at rest in the ever-loving arms of Jesus. Love, Bryan Cole
