Mr. James Edward Cherry, age 71, a resident of 1042 North Respess Street, Washington, NC died Sunday November 27, 2016 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday December 1, 2016 at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington officiated by Eddie Bowen. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Cherry, Sr., Kenneth Cherry, Jr., James Cherry, Kyle Bullock, Sr., Jeffrey Bullock and Kevin Bullock.
The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday November 30, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and following the graveside funeral service at the home of Mr. Cherry’s daughter: Melissa Rivenbark located at 1042 North Respess Street, Washington.
Mr. Cherry was born in Gatesville, TX on April 26, 1945 son of the late James Cherry and the late Jeanette Williams Cherry. He was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School and worked as a self-employed master electrician. Mr. Cherry was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1800 and a member of East Carolina Wild Fowl Guild.
Survivors include three daughters: Tiffany Cherry Bey (David) of Kernersville, NC, Melissa Cherry Rivenbark (Chris) of Washington and Amanda Jeanette Cherry of Charleston, SC; two brothers: Clifton Cherry of Washington and Kenneth Cherry (Lori) of Fuquay Varina, NC; two sisters: Theresa Bullock (Kyle) of Washington and Nellie Khanamoko (Charles) of Texas; four grandchildren: Owen Bey, Colin Rivenbark, Ryan Rivenbark and Spencer Rivenbark and Mr. Cherry’s faithful and protective feline companion Zoey. Mr. Cherry was predeceased by his step-mother: Bernice S. Cherry and a brother: Samuel Cherry.
