Jim was a great athlete -- a Jesuit H.S. basketball starter his freshman year, with Tim Casey and Don Oderman and other fine athletes. Saw him again in about 1978 at the Galleria coffee shop. We talked for about an hour about high school and since.

This was a very good person. I ate only once at Bijou, and when I saw him there I said, "You're the guy I see walking along Willamette Boulevard." Indeed he was and we would often say hello in passing from the on. I am not much of an outgoing person, but I always made it a point to return his greetings and smile with the same.
