Not sure what to say?

I first met James in the early 70's when we went golfing with mutual friends. I always admired his tenacity both on the golf course and in life. Throughout the latter part of the 2000's he would regularly show up in my driveway on his scooter and we would have a beer and tell stories. He was a treasure trove of information about Ann Arbor and his many friends. I never felt sorry for him because he never felt sorry for himself. I once asked him if his eggs were always sunny side up and he...

Ann Arbor will miss you Jim, you were the best. From the 21st birthday I celebrated at the Pretzel Bell with Jim, the weekend trips to Grand Bend Ontario, the Saturday night summers at German Park to the high school reunions Jim would attend. Jim always wanted to know how all his buds were getting along. We are already missing you Jim. My deepest sympathy to Gail & Jimmy. Dan Struble

Hey Banks

We had so many good good times, so I'll pick a couple. We loved to go to silver lake. I was the designated driver. We would stop in Dexter for a Bud draft at Lola's bar. Lola was special stop for us. We would get three cases of Bud in my red wagon. You were always there to give me a break on pulling the Rex Jet. You will be missed James.

Gail, I am so sorry for your loss. I will fondly remember Jim going out on his scooter no matter how hot it was. He would greet us (neighbors) with a kind word, smile or nod as he passed by. After reading your son's wonderful tribute to his father, I wish I had gotten to know Jim better. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Good bye dear friend. We will miss your laugh, endearing smile and jokes. Tom said, "You are the only one that called him, Lad." And he will always remember this. Our family has shared many happy times with you, Gail and Jim. They will always be remembered and treasured.

Gail, Jim and Shannon,
You're always in our hearts and on our minds ... and we're here for you if need us.

Love,
Tom and Karen Braun

I will think of Jim every time I watch a U of M football game. What a Guy. He always got me there current schedule.

Dear Gail and Jim, I am so sorry for your loss. James was a wonderful person. In spite of all of his physical problems, he was so positive and caring about others. I know he was very proud of you Jim, and you have been a wonderful son to your parents. Gail, you are so giving and James had a best friend in you. Words can't express how sorry I am. Love, Marybeth Worcheck

"Lo, when the king comes forth in glory, Purple are his robes and White. White is the sign of truth and honor, Purple is the sign of might." I'll forever think of Jim as I sing or hear the Ann Arbor High School alma mater, The Purple and White. And as Ann Arbor bred and schooled, Jim had an immense love and pride for his town, high school and classmates. He was truly a PIONEER.

What a blessing to know Jim. We have admired him through all of his struggles. His attitude was one of fun and laughter and we never heard a word of complaint.

Our Thursday night dinners with Jim, Gail and the "gang" have been lots of fun and we will miss his infectious smile.

Thank you for some wonderful memories, Jim.

Fondly,

Anne and Paul Stehle
