Not sure what to say?

You are still thought and spoken about James. Just last night I was at an election meeting at the American Legion in Montpelier. The discussion came up about books, and yours was one of the favorites of the veterans present.

God Bless Professor Facos and his family. He touched so many lives. He was truly an educator and he will be a "forever memory" to me.

I love classical music and I attribute this in large part to my cousin Jim. He encouraged my parents to buy a small stereo which of course, in 1956, was a turntable and two speakers only able to play 33 LP's. Then he gave us several of his recordings, Handel, Schubert, Offenbach, and a couple of the Broadway successes of the era. I listened to them until they almost melted on the turntable. I was hooked for life. Thanks Jim!!

Its hard to believe its been a year already, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Dearest Cleo, I hope that your wonderful memories bring you peace. I have just learned of Jim's passing and want to express my deepest sympathies. I am so glad I got the opportunity , years ago to tell him that he was my hero. I am a far better human being for having known him. Whenever I hear songs like " You raise me up" or "wind beneath my wings" I always think of him. He was a great man, a wonderful inspiring teacher when I was at VC. He taught me a lot over the years, most...

Thank you for your service

So sorry to the Facos Family for your loss. He was a true American Hero and a member of the "Greatest Generation." His fellow Comrades at Brown-Johnson Post 792 Salute you, sleep soldier boy, sleep.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of James F. Facos. He was my Children's Literature professor while I was at Vermont College in 1970-1972. He was a wonderful professor as well as a wonderful person! I still have many of his quotes in the wealth of knowledge that I obtained from Mr. Facts! He was a true inspiration! RIP

So sad to learn of his passing. May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family and friends. Prof. Facos was an exceptional teacher and is one professor that I will never forget. He was truly interested in his students and encouraged creativity. He encouraged me to write and take chances with it. I'm sure many who took his Creative Writing class will never forget the importance of those essential "touch-stones." Great man.

There is something special about a professor whose teachings and wisdom remain with you throughout the years. His simple phrase, "College work?" was enough to make one strive harder. He taught us how the Zeitgeist (one of his favorite references) encompassed the language, Art, and History of the period people lived in...which was then revealed when studying Art and History. But it was also his wisdom, not necessarily that of a scholastic nature, which often remains with me:
"If you...
