Not sure what to say?

I first met Jim at Doris & Ed's around 1982. It quickly became our favorite dining place. Jim was friendly and even gave me a tour of the kitchen and shared recipes with me. He even took my niece upstairs where he lived where they played with his cat. I moved to Florida in 2000 and still think of him and Doris & Ed's and I miss them both. Rest in peace my friend. Until we meet again.

I had the privilege of modeling with Jim in the Celebration of Life 2010. He was a ray of sunshine, smashing and dashing, and I'll always remember how much fun he had that day. I'm so sorry for your loss .

We experienced Doris and Ed's graduate from a fish house to a renowned grand-scale gourmet restaurant. Many of our special occasions celebrated there. It was always a treat and great memories will stay with us forever. Jim frequently sat with us, joked, made menu suggestions and wine selections to accompany our meal. It was simply the best and irreplaceable. We were very fortunate to be there on the last day they were open, just before hurricane Irene. We prayed for the restaurant to...

We were friends from Grand Case and shared joys and sorrows. Deeply saddened that we will not meet again. Love and prayers for his family

So many happy memories of great meals,
wine and fun - we'll miss you Jim.

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. A true gentleman and "teacher" to many in the restaurant and hospitality business. My deepest condolences to his family and many friends. May Mr. Filip rest in peace.

I learned new meanings of family, friends, the jokes and the laughs and of course The Corks we shared... "Always drink good wine, Zig, and you'll never have a hangover." You answered all my questions that I threw at you, and you always, always helped me out may it had been getting me into the impossible restaurant or picking the perfect wine. I'm so grateful we had that pizza together at Tommy's a month ago - I will never forget it, and only you could make a pizza so special. I will miss you...

I worked at D&E's in the late seventies and eighties for Jim and he was a great guy. I was able to learn many things about the hospitality business and worked with a great group of people. They are some of my fondest memories. My condolences to Jim's family.
