James Archer Fisher Jr. left this earth at 12:47 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023, surrounded by family and friends who dearly loved him and supported him reuniting with his "everloving wife of 52 years," Jane C. Fisher (aka Granny Jane). He missed her tremendously and not a day went by without him talking about how much he missed her. He was ready to be called to heaven and see the love of his life again.
Jim had many names over the years, "Catfish" to his CB buddies in his early trucking days, "Papa Jim" to some of the kids he took under his wing in the early days of "Jim and Jane", Mr. Jim to his neighborhood, where kids and adults alike loved him for his kindness, generosity, and humor. He loved spoiling, and picking on, the neighborhood kids!
Jim was always looking for somebody to help, to be kind to, to spoil, to share a story or two or eight or 10, and he loved to play card and board games.
But the names he loved best were Dad and Grandaddy/Grandpa Jim. He leaves behind three children and their mates, Clifford Dale and wife, Alice Fisher, daughter, Rebecca Jane and wife, Paula, and youngest son, Michael Wayne and wife, Jeannie.
Granddaddy was an extrovert, and loved telling stories to anyone who would listen! When he wasn't telling trucking stories, he'd share childhood escapades with Clifford Dale Fisher Jr, Courtney Dey Fisher, Andrew Thomas Barbour, and Quinn Patrick Humburg-Fisher. He welcomed their significant others into his life as well, Cliff Jr's wife, Gwen Reyes Fisher, Courtney's husband, Dr. Jason Kudurogianis, and Drew's girlfriend, Chrissy Mohl, who he couldn't wait to call his grandaughter. He loved spoiling all of his grandkids, and he enjoyed picking on everyone! He was full of fun and laughter, and was truly a Crozet icon. He will be missed by many, and will always be remembered for his unlimited love and generosity.
Family will receive friends at the Anderson Funeral Home on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 5 until 7 p.m. A graveside service will be at Holly Memorial Gardens on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 2 p.m. Colonel Roderick White will be officating. Family suggest memorial donations be sent to MS.
