Just read of Jim's passing. Sorry to hear this. I framed many poems and art for Jim. He was always kind and it was a joy to listen to his stories. He is in my thoughts.

went to st.joseph's grammer school with jim. may god bless his soul.

I am an artist who photographed Jim many years ago for a painting which I never got a chance to do which I regret. His generosity of spirit and his joie-de -vivre touched all who came into contact with him. I am so sorry to hear of his death.

Thank you Dr. Flanagan for believing in me. Although I never got a chance to tell you, I am very greatful for the joy you found in my poetry and the strength you provided me in my most desolate moments. I know you are in a better place alongside the great I AM. I look forward to seeing you there someday. To those he left behind... rejoice, for he whom you loved so dearly now walks among us with the most magnificent wings. Bless him o' Lord as he has blessed those who hath walked in his presence.

Dr. Flanagan, Thank you so much for believing in me and convincing me to believe in myself! You will forever be "The Best Teacher Ever". I was an under dog and you helped save my life! My heart is sad....Rest In Peace.....

I am so proud to have taught aside Dr. Flanagan in my first two years of teaching at APHS. His knowledge and passion for young people of Asbury Park will NEVER be forgotten. There are those of them that try...but Doc DID...and he did it HIS way and it worked! He will sorely be missed!

My wife's (Jane) Godfather, Jim was always a joy to talk with - especially sharing stories about each of our visits to Ireland. Those who knew, or even met Jim, will truly miss him. I can only quote - "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
~Thomas Campbell, "Hallowed Ground"

God Bless

"Doc" was an incredible teacher, who took the time to know his students and establish a rapport that encouraged learning. He left his students with the certain knowledge, that what one taught one's self transcended the classroom.
