James H. French, 71, of Allentown, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jersey City, he spent most of his childhood living in Yardville. He resided in Hamilton Square and Allentown for most of his married life. James worked as an electrician through IBEW Local 269. Following his retirement, he worked as an Electrical Inspector, most recently for Robbinsville Township. He also owned James French Electrical Contractor for many years. He was the original electrical contractor for St. Gregory’s carnival. James loved sports, playing softball and basketball for several years and was a little league baseball coach. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to many places in the USA and taking several cruises. Special memories were made when he and his entire family went on a cruise in 2023 to celebrate their 50th Wedding anniversary. He also enjoyed going out to dinner and spending time with his family and friends.
James’ greatest love was his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and would travel many miles to support and watch them participate in their many events and activities.
Son of the late Henry and Theresa French, he was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Charles Howell. James is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sharyn French; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brian Stults; his son and daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Michele French; his beloved grandchildren, Isabelle, Melissa, and William Stults, and David and Dana French. James is also survived by his six siblings, including his brother, Kenneth French; his mother-in-law, Carol Howell, as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Friday, August 22nd from 5-8pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Saturday, August 23rd at St. John’s Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown. Interment will follow in Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville.
