James M. Gay

I met Mr. Gay in 6th grade (Hart Middle School), he was my vocal music teacher my entire young life before CJS graduation in 1988. Mr. Gay was also a rather swank gentleman and urged us young men to be the same. To this day, I am not sure if he was the reason I tried wearing an ascot or excelled in music theory. James was the president of our Douglass HS class of 1959. Most of our class went on to Morgan SU. James and I sang on the choir at Morgan. James was always the 'go to' person when reunions were planned and he attended a 60th reunion for Douglass '59 in 2019. He will be sorely missed.
