Although I do not have a memory of Dr. German myself as I was a very small child when my parents, Dr. Henry and Mrs. Lorraine Simmons knew him, I remember hearing from them about the wonderful work he was doing and how humane and supportive he always was to them. Both my brother and sister had Bloom Syndrome, which he diagnosed in the early 60s, finally giving my parents some sense of what they were dealing with. My loving thoughts to his family.

I sadly just saw this that Doctor German has passed away. My brother Michael Koff I believe was in the very 1st group of people diagnosed with Bloom syndrome back in the seventies. I remember doctor German and his wife coming to our home For many visits. I Remember that Doctor German always left an impression especially when he would would sit at our grand piano and play the most beautiful music.. As a former student as Research Fellow in Human Genetics at the Cornell Medical Center New York, 1966-1968, with Dr. James L. German, I join the family in memoriam. Dr. German was a pioneer in early human genetic research and its appliaction in diagnosis and counseling.
