Not sure what to say?

I still think about Jim very often. I keep in touch with Jack Diamond and with Ken Moore, we were all in the Brody lab at U of M and we discuss Jim. We remember his kindness, admire his accomplishments and miss him greatly.

Having served on several ASPET committees and academic reviews with Jim, I found him to be most supportive of our venerable discipline of pharmacology and its importance to the practitioner to insure drug safety, efficacy and pricing equity. He also had a deep appreciation of the value of research and education to assure vitality of pharmacology over the centuries. Jim was also a most convivial colleague, true to his religion and extended family, but respecting the convictions of others. ...

Jim was one of the kindest colleagues I ever met. I will always remember our conversations and his kind words.

M sincerest condolences to the Gibb family. He was a wonderful human being, teacher and mentor. He was a man of great integrity and honesty. The obituary describes Jim perfectly. I will miss him very much. My thoughts and prayers are with the Gibb family this time.

Sharon and I knew Jim from our undergraduate days and John's MSc days at the the University of Albera and John worked in the same lab as Jim at the University of Michigan. John continued contact with Jim at conferences visited Jim and Lavon in Salt Lake. Jim also visited us in Vancouver. The obituary captures Jim and his many attributes very well. He was a great educator, administrator, family man and contributor to his community. His friendship meant a great deal to us and we will miss him...

Our sincere condolences to the extended Gibb family for your loss. My father (Laurence Harker) enjoyed a lifetime of valued friendship with Jim, hailing from the same Southern Alberta area. May the Lord bless and comfort you at this time of much sorrow.

Much Love,

Peter Harker and family

condolences to this family. I was a neighbor long ago. He contributed greatly to many known people and many unknown through his services and kind actions.

I was so blessed to be hired by and mentored by Jim as my Chair and colleague in the Dept. of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the U. Your words above about Jim ring so true, "He taught through his humility and deeds." It was a privilege to develop as a faculty member trying to emulate the example of one who led through such positive actions in such a humble manner. One would never know from interacting with Jim how accomplished he truly was. One felt immediately at home with Jim, and knew...
