I did not know the man, but having read of his exploits during WWII, I am thankful for Patriots such as Mr. Gibbons. It is my understanding that combat crews were only required to fly 25 missions and then were reassigned to less demanding roles. To have flown 52 missions and survived is truly remarkable. Rest in Peace.
