Not sure what to say?

Sorry this happened. I had the privilege of working with Dr. Giffin as a graduate assistant in the business department during the 1962 -- 63 school year. He always treated me with dignity and respect.

Daniel J. James
B.S. '62, M.S. '63.

Mrs. Giffin and Family,
We were so sorry to hear of the death of Dr. Giffin. He was such a powerful influence in my life while at EIU and majoring in Business Education. My husband, Jim, also became acquainted with him at that same time and later professionally; and he regarded him highly. It was so special when we moved to Casey and discovered that he was an ALUM of Casey High School and went to our church when he lived here. I will always remember how he treated students and...

To: The Giffin family you have our deepest prayers for your loss. Jim, was one of my great supporters when I was the executive at the Charleston Area Chamber. He encouraged me to reach for the stars in my career and it sure has been a wonderful one.

June and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss and you will all be in my prayers. You have so many good memories to hold tight, as does everyone who knew your kind and gentle, Jim. I remember when he came to visit me at the EIU Records Office (some 34 years ago) to tell me how glad he was to have me part of the Eastern family. Later he brought his memories of my father, Uncle John and Bernard to the Payroll Office to keep me connected his and my past. I loved his endless stories of...

June, please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. You and Dr. Giffin played an important role in my life during my years at EIU ('80 and '82) as you did for many others before and after me. He will be long remembered with fondness.

June, Gina, and Jon, we are thinking of you and share your loss. I have such fond memories of Jim as a neighbor, friend, and mentor. He will live on through all his good works for our university and community. We are fortunate to have had him among us.

June, just know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Dr. Giffin was certainly a great man.

June, Jon and Gina - with out love and our deepest sympathy to all of our. What a great guy Jim was and one of our best and dearest friends. We have such wonderful, wonderful memories - all those great letters he wrote all these years and even those old days at Melbourne NAS - with our love, Margaret and Roy
