Not sure what to say?

We miss you every moment, in every day. You were the most precious gift given to us, my mother, Madison and I. We hold on to all of our wonderful memories, all of the love you have shared with us. Our hearts our still broken, but your laughter and smile is seen in the joy of our little Madi. Oh, how she loved her Papa. Merry Christmas my sweet father, I will miss you forever.

I had the great pleasure of knowing Dr. Giles, or Jim, as he preferred to be called amongst friends and acquaintances, quite personally. A large group of us played racquetball with him in the 1980s and 1990s at Pierpont.

There were quite a few of us in that loose-knit group - about twenty guys or so, roughly, at one point.

Some were lawyers. Some were doctors. Some worked for the city. Oxnard businessman, Alvin Behrens, one of Jim's best friends before Alvin passed away...

In 1969, I had a spinal cord injury (broken neck) and shortly after my accident the doctors told me they didn't think I would walk again. Dr. Giles was my surgeon and today I'm still "limping" around which is a lot better than "not walking again". I had some tough days and nights at the old St John's on F Street and many times I would wake up late at night and Dr. Giles was "on the job". I was amazed at the dedication he had and was very thankfull he was there. I did feel kind of "sorry"...

To the family of Dr. Giles--

My father, Dr. William J. Fox, was a colleague and good friend of Dr. Giles. My father was a radiologist; the two of them worked closely together at the old St. John's Hospital. They had many things in common, including a Wisconsin connection. My dad was born in Madison and went to the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Obviously he was a Green Bay Packer's fan, as I know Dr. Giles was.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Dr. Giles when...

Dear Kathy and Family,
Jim was a fine man, and an excellent doctor, and we will all miss him. I am praying for peace for you and your family during these difficult times.
Jack Broms, MD.

Dear Kathy and Family, I am so fortunate to have known Jim. He took care of my mother during her last illness. He was so kind and gentle with her. May the memories you have keep you safe and warm until we all meet again. Kathy I remember so well the time we spent working together so long ago. I would love to talk with you when you are able. May God hold you and yours in the palm of His hand.

'DOC', as my dad, Richard Carballo, would say. How are you? I know you are not suffering any longer. We know you are in a better place. We were next door neighbors on JANETWOOD. Lily, myself, DENISE, RICK, MICHELE, and RENEE. We wish to send our DEEPEST SYMPATHY to the children and to Kathy. May GOD be with you and your FAMILY. RICHARD CARBALLO and FAMILY and LILY

Dear Kathy. I just learned of Dr.Giles' passing. Please accept my sympathies and prayers. I have such fond memories of him and you from the "old" St John's. God bless you and all your family.

My heart and prayers go out to you all. Dr Giles was a very special person. I worked with Dr Giles both in the old hospital and in the new - also had the opportunity to work with him on a Rehab committee- you couldn't ask for a kinder more caring and extremely competent MD. He also took care of two of my children with broken bones- did a great job of putting them at ease. He will be missed greatly. Pat Young
